Finding the right Realtor can be a challenge. When you’re ready to sell your home, you want someone who will be as serious about getting the right price for it as you are. After all, you’ve invested more than just money in your home. You’ve invested time, emotion, and a substantial portion of yourself.
So it’s important to spend the time it takes to find the right Realtor. Here are just a few things to watch out for.
How many homes have sold over the past year? Ideally, when you sell your home, you’ll find a Realtor with a very high percentage of closed sales in your market. And those last three words are key – every market is different, and an accomplished Realtor who’s green in your market isn’t as impressive as one with lots of local success stories.
How long did they take to sell? Take some time to compare marketing times between real estate offices. This will give you a good idea of how well each office’s marketing strategy works.
What was the average price? The closer this number is to your own price range, the better.
What’s the list-price to sale-price ratio? A heavily imbalanced ratio between the amounts homes initially listed for and the ultimate sale prices can reveal unrealistic expectations in the listing process.
The right real estate sales associate can make or break your entire sales process. Don’t just open the phone book and choose the first name you see, or the first big advertisement you see. Compile a comprehensive list of local experts, and perform the requisite research.
